This month is looking at the benefits of walking, as we all know generally moving about more is good for us on so many levels. Being active increases the heart’s pumping action boosting the blood circulation, being out and about in the fresh air is good for our mind and spirit, and generally after going for a brisk walk endorphins are released into our system bringing about an increased feeling of wellbeing.
Earlier in the month I took part in the LDWA Ridgeway 40-mile walk, crossing between Avebury and Goring. This is primarily a walkers’ event but runners can take part also, and it is well-placed as a training event before Endure 24 next month. The picture of me below shows the sheer exhaustion of having walked/jogged for 12 hours but most importantly the absolute elation from achieving the challenge.
With the bank holiday weekend approaching why not plan a walk in the countryside into your schedule?
Oh, and the giraffe – that’s Gerald – he’s my training buddy and will be with me all the way as a soloist at Endure 24 next month at Wasing Park.
